Vulas

EARLY HISTORY

Vulas' (pron. VOOL'OSS) origin is hard to trace, as it has been conquered and reclaimed countless times through the decades. It is speculated to have splintered off a few shattered colonies of the ancient empire of Lempisch , who in a last breath effort against collapse, had a majority of their population seal demonic pacts.

GEOGRAPHY

Vulas is positioned directly in the middle of the Glistening Plains, the most fertile land on the continent. This has led to it being a highly sought after area, the catalyst for many of Vulas' wars.

The land is almost entirely flat, perfectly suited for the building and rebuilding that Vulas has endured over the years.

DEMOGRAPHICS

Vulas is mostly comprised of tieflings, though it has managed to pick up some other races over the years through its mercenary population. Among these are dwarves, humans, and orcs. In day to day life, though, they are a relative rarity.

Religiously, Vulas' most popular deity is Lemphisa, due to it being her city of origin. Utierres is not far behind, due to the incessant wars that have historically plagued the city.

SOCIETAL STRUCTURE

Around half of Vulas' economy is based on farming, taking advantage of the nutrient rich soil of the Glistening Plains. The other half lies in the very defense of this industry, making sure that no other nearby kingdoms can take Vulas for themselves. Vulas frequently wages war against neighboring settlements in and around the Glistening Plains as a preventative measure, ensuring they do not attempt to take the city for themselves. Naturally, war has become a central component of Vulasian society, not only to the economy, but to Vulas' culture as a whole.

The government in Vulas is, as a matter of course, heavily tied to the military. The main governing official is known as the "Commander". Below him are a cast of generals, lieutenants, and the like with power and jurisdiction tied to their rank. The current commander as of publishing 17th ED is Nephir Carrin.
