Shaffat

DOMAIN

Shaffat is the god of death, supposedly standing at the entrance to the afterlife. She also serves as a god of justice, as not only is she said judge souls before their entrance to the afterlife, she is known to intervene on mortal matters. Some sects also tie her to nebulous concepts such as "liberty" or "equality" for this reason.

ORIGIN

Shaffat's early life is mostly mystery, but it is known that she was originally an assassin. To which ancient assassins order she belonged is lost to time (most scholars suspect the Penumbra Phantasm, but there is sufficient debate). Whichever order it might have been, Shaffat defected from it.

It is said that she planned to live a peacefullife hiding away from her masters, but the beginning of the Fall of the Old Gods made living a truly peaceful life nigh impossible. After the town she was hiding out was eviscerated by the armies of The Overseer, she knew she had to act.

The next time that it appeared, she entered one of the portals it left, hoping to infiltrate their backline. Instead, she found herself in the wildly confusing heavenly realm. Quick on her feet, however, she able to sufficiently adapt and by chance encountered The Keeper. The Keeper, seemingly just as offput by a mortal in the heavenly realm as Shaffat was by this horrid entity, was taken by surprise. Shaffat was able to take advantage of this to kill the entity, and become a god herself.

APPEARANCE AND DEPICTIONS

Shaffat appears as a short, dark humanoid outline within a cloak, with a female voice. There are two daggers on opposite sides of her waist.

The first is incredibly decorated, with an ornate handle and a golden blade. It is incredibly sharp and shiny. The second, however, is completely plain, almost a little dull if anything.

Depictions of Shaffat as she is are mostly consistent with each other, but depictions of a theoretical "mortal" Shaffat vary wildly. Most depictions show her as a halfling or gnome due to her short stature, while others insist that the magic instead shortened her, portraying her usually as the artist's race.

ABILITIES

Shaffat is notoriously evasive, able to sneak into the heavenly realm before achieving godhood. She is said to be almost completely undetectable wherever she goes now.

The decorated dagger she carries has magical properties, able to instantly extend and transform itself into a full on longsword. She has been observed using this weapon to publicly execute individuals in the past.

The plain dagger's abilties have not yet been observed, but it is speculated these are not the only two weapons she carries at any given time. Eyewitnesses have attested to her using a crossbow, as well as severely other daggers, seemingly plucked out of thin air. These are theorized to be hidden within her cloak, and all information about them besides their rough physical qualities is unknown.
