Fihan

EARLY HISTORY

Fihan (pron. FEE'HAWN) was established initially not even really as a colony, but more so a sort of fort and trading post. The empire of Blissdengschender, which still stands today, was seeking a way to trade with the local merchants of Tai'Un, but over time, the fort slowly evolved into its own settlement. Eventually, it declared independence, but still maintains close trade with its mother land

GEOGRAPHY

The forests surrounding Fihan are quite thin, naturally, and the clearing it was built in exemplifies this. There are still trees present of course, but the terrain of Fihan is more flat and plains like for the most part. Bushes and shrubbery are sparsely spread out like stars across the perimeter surrounding the city, clearly showing where the wilderness ends and civilization begins.

The area is rich with hot springs, which are said to house waters providing regenerative effects. Several spouts that emit the water of these springs at scorching temperatures stationed around the springs. The nearby volcano "Mount Krigsendalene" is speculated to be responsible for this, seemingly heating the ground beneath it and somehow causing the water to erupt as well.

DEMOGRAPHICS

Fihan is mostly composed of gnomes, but many other races have moved into it over the years. It has become a particular draw for immigration thanks to its consistent neutrality in conflicts, as well as relative proximity to the shore.

Religiously, Fihan is quite varied. The most commonly worshipped god is Shaffat, but almost all religious groups are represented in some capacity. The least worshipped, by far, however is Utierres, since it tends to stray from wars and doesn't have a particularly unforgiving wilderness.

SOCIETAL STRUCTURE

Fihan's economy is based mostly around the trade it does with external continents, exporting the unique resources provided by its springs and volcano.

Fihan also exports many minor magical items. They are usually specialized to one specific task, and are even sometimes one time use, incentivizing buyers to keep returning.

The government of Fihan is a monarchy, not dissimilar from how many smaller cities operate. While there are several lower lords who work beneath him, there is a king at the head, who has the final say over every matter within Fihan. Descended from the line of Ufanyl, the current king, as of publishing 17TH ED is Salwin III.
