Confictis
DOMAIN
Confictis (pron. CUN'FICT'ISS) is mainlythe god of trickery, and is closely associated with adjacent concepts (i.e. chaos, deceit). However, in modern times, he has also come to be seen as a sort of "god of the arts", especially among younger individuals. The rationale for this being that all art inherently requires a lie, in the form of suspension of disbelief.
ORIGIN
DISCLAIMER: There are many uncertainties within Confictis' origin, even in the modern day. While some parts have become clearer with time, it cannot be said for sure it is, in its whole, empirically correct.
Confictis's early life is almost impossible to trace, up almost until the very tale of his apotheosis. It is known he was a court jester or fool of some type for an ancient periphery kingdom, but it's not even clear which one, since the standard story of his ascension could've feasibly occurred in almost all of them.
It is said that, when the city fell to The Tinkerer, as was a common occurrence in that day, Confictis was one of the few left. The entire royal court had fled, leaving only the jester. Now technically the highest form of authority left standing, Confictis assembled a party of adventurers.
He brought them to The Tinkerer, which was severely weakened by the prior siege. Though none of the adventurers were able to defeat it, they left it within an inch of its life with its guard completely down. Confictis was able to deal the finishing blow, and become a god.
APPEARANCE AND DEPICTIONS
Confictis is known to take on many humanoid forms, so it is quite hard to pin down one as his "appearance". His true form is unknown.
Nonetheless, efforts have been made to depict him, even moreso than some other gods due to his domain. Many works depict him as a jester, usually wearing a yellow costume, and with hidden physical features. If they include physical features, it usually is that of a similar kind of the artist.
ABILITIES
Confictis is said to be able to shape shift into not only any sentient being, but seemingly any living creature. He was observed, on multiple occasions, shifting into a bird as part of a 'joke' played over multiple years.
Aside from that, his abilities are mostly unknown, as, unlike many other gods, he seems to avoid violence.
